BREWSTER—With virtually the entire starting lineup returning from a team that went 27-8 in dual meets last year, the Brewster High wrestling team is looking for a strong season on the mats this winter.

Brewster Winter Track Team Gears Up for a Strong Season
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Brewster High boys and girls track teams look strong again this year. That’s saying a lot coming off a year that saw the boys win the indoor and outdoor league championships. Kennedy Boys Basketball Look to Return to Playoffs
SOMERS—After a first-round exit —compliments of Pelham—from the sectional tournament last winter, the Kennedy Catholic High School boys basketball team is itching for a return to the post-season tournament.
Kennedy finished at 13-7 last year, and will be without standouts Steve Feeney (All-League guard, No. 1 scorer) and Anthony Spinola, both gone to graduation. Full Story
Mahopac Boys Hoops Team Gets Younger, Expects Success
MAHOPAC—One year after recording a 17-5 record and making it to the sectional quarterfinals, the Mahopac High boys basketball team is experiencing a bit of a youth movement after losing 10 players from last year’s squad.

CARMEL—There’s not really any way to sugar coat it – the Carmel High boys basketball program has seen some rough times the last few years.

PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High girls basketball team finished last year with a 15-7 record. The season ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Irvington.
The Tigers lost six seniors from last years team, they only return four players and two of them are underclassmen. Full Story
‘Geezer Bowl’ Marks 12th Year
This past weekend, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving the 12th annual Geezer Bowl was played on the turf field at Carmel High School. Every year fathers in the area get together to play in this highly anticipated event. Although the game is played by a bunch of out-of-shape dads whose glory days have long since passed them by, this is no ordinary pick-up football game. Full Story

Runaway Whitetails and Other Woodland Lore
The striped bass season ended onNovember 30, as this column was being written, and the seasons for both large and smallmouth bass also closed that day. Boating season on our protected lakes and reservoirs in Putnam and Westchester County used to end on this day too, but now rowboats can be taken out on all of these waters until first ice forms on each location. Kelly Bentson Signs Letter of Intent
Kelly Bentson has become the latest senior athlete at Brewster High School to sign a national letter of intent.
The 17-year-old penned her signature last week on a contract signifying her agreement to attend Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, where she will major in education while playing softball for the Mercy College Mavericks. Full Story
