Menorahs to be Lit in Carmel and Mahopac

ERIC GROSS

Two outdoor menorah lightings are scheduled in the Carmel-Mahopac area to celebrate the Festival of Lights— Chanukah—that begins at sundown on Friday.

A menorah will be lighted at the Mahopac Chamber of Commerce Park on Saturday at 6pm in conjunction with the Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce and Putnam Chabad.

The park is located at the intersection of Route 6 and 6N in downtown Mahopac.

On Monday at 5:30pm a menorah installed at the intersection of Routes 6 and 52 in downtown Carmel will be lighted courtesy of the Hamlet of Carmel Civic Association and Putnam Chabad.

Both lightings will feature holiday songs as well as hot chocolate and freshly prepared potato latkes (pancakes).

Meanwhile on Sunday from 3-5pm, a Chanukah bowling party is planned at the Carmel Bowling Lanes that features unlimited bowling, and refreshments that include donuts, latkes, and other traditional holiday fare. The cost of admission for the bowling party is $8 per person.

Rabbi Avi Korer has invited the public to attend all three events: “We encourage everyone to stop by whether you celebrate the Festival of Lights or not.”
