BREWSTER—The Brewster High wrestling team got the 2009-2010 season off to a rousing start last weekend, defending its Rye Wrestling Tournament championship by putting nine wrestlers on the podium.
The Bears finished with 326 points, ahead of second-place Scarsdale (185). Mahopac was third with 165 points. Full Story

Carmel Top Unicorns in First Round of Keio Tournament
Championship game delayed by weather
CARMEL—The Carmel High boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season last Friday, topping Keio, 56-31, in the opening round of the Keio tournament.
The Rams were set to take on Children’s Village – a winner over Tuxedo - in the championship game Saturday, but snow caused the tournament to be delayed to a date yet to be determined. Full Story
Strong Individual Performances Don’t Lead to Team Success for Bears

Inconsistency Dooms Rams
CARMEL—Starting strong isn’t a problem the Carmel ice hockey team has, but maintaining their game plan for the final two periods has proved to be a bit tougher. Mahopac Grapplers Open with Success
MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High wrestling team enjoyed a solid opening week that concluded with a third-place finish in the Rye Wrestling Tournament last weekend.
The Indians finished third out of 15 teams and juniors Steve Pagliuca and Andrew Scopino each won their weight classes. Pagliuca wrestles at 125 pounds and Scopino at 275 pounds. Full Story

Senior, Brewster High School
BREWSTER—Not too long ago, Brewster High’s Ali Polhill dreamed about winning a state championship.
The Bears senior, a two-year captain on the Brewster swim team, was a sophomore at the time, and had just taken a fourth place in her specialty— the 100 butterfly - at states.
