Putnam Valley Girls Top Dover in Beacon Tourney
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High girls basketball team went into Walter Panas and left with a 44-35 victory on Monday. Saturday the Tigers faced Dover in the consolation game of the Beacon tournament, winning 60-35, and last Thursday Put Valley lost, 40-39, to Tuxedo in the tournament opener. Full Story

MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High wrestling team continued its strong start to the season on Saturday by finishing second out of eight schools at the Woodlands High School tournament in Hartsdale. Full Story
Rams Can’t Match Up Against Foxes
Carmel falls to Fox Lane; Rams take second at Greeley duals
CARMEL—The Carmel High wrestling team won both matches in the opening round of the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament last Thursday, beating John Jay EF (45-33) and Tappan Zee (36-33). But Carmel’s winning streak ended Monday, when the Rams traveled to Fox Lane and dropped a 57-21 decision to the host Foxes in the tournament quarterfinals. Full Story
Gaels Open Season at Armory Kick-Off
SOMERS—Competing against schools from all over Section 1, the Kennedy Catholic winter track team opened its season Sunday as part the Armory's Kick-Off. The two day competition is made up of nearly every team from the section, and the Gaels are hoping to use the meet as their first step towards preparing for the League Championships at the end of the season. Brewster Boys Lose Hold on Hen Hud
BREWSTER—The Brewster High boys basketball team wasted a golden opportunity against Hen Hud in the opening round of the Jack McGuire tournament, and it ended up costing Brewster the game, as the Sailors went on to post a 52-46 victory. The Bears went on to beat Nanuet, 45-40, in Friday night’s consolation game. Full Story

CARMEL—Carmel girls basketball coach Dan O’Hare was anxious to see just how his Rams stacked up against the team many are picking as the early favorite to win the Class AA crown this winter.

Mahopac Ice Hockey Team Plays Strong in Win over Ossining
MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High ice hockey team continued its strong recent play by defeating Ossining on Saturday, 4-1, in a conference game at the Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford, bringing its overall record to 4-2 with a 4-1 conference record. Full Story
Carmel Hockey Picks up First Win
CARMEL—After opening their weekend with a loss Friday night to Lakeland/ Panas, the Carmel High ice hockey team picked up its first win of the season two days later over Yorktown. Both contests were league matches, the Rams now stand at 1-3 with plenty of time left in their season to turn things around. Full Story
Lady Indians’ Tough Start Continues with Loss to Arlington
MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High girls basketball team’s rough start to the season continued last week in a 63-26, nonconference loss to the Arlington Admirals on Friday night. The loss dropped the Indians to 0-3 on the season.
The game against Pawling, scheduled for Dec. 9, was moved to Dec. 21. Full Story

BREWSTER—The Brewster track team had its first event at The Armory in New York City on Saturday. The team looks strong this year, they are coming off a good cross country season and are looking to build on the success of recent years. Full Story
Opener Has Rams Thinking Long Term
CARMEL—The Carmel track team opened their season on Sunday, day two, of the Armory's Section One Kick-Off. The meet allowed the Rams to see where they stand against the other schools in the area while also gaining some valuable experience for their younger team members. Full Story
Carmel Boys Beat Children’s Village to Take Keio Tournament
CARMEL—The Carmel High boys basketball team put the wraps on the Keio tournament last week, tripping up Children’s Village, 48-45, Thursday in the weather-delayed championship game to win the tournament title.
The Rams (3-1) opened the week last Monday with a 61-59 loss to John Jay of Cross River, and closed it out with a lopsided, 66-36 victory Friday over North Salem. Full Story
Putnam Valley Falls to Lakeland
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High bowling team took one on the chin from Lakeland last Thursday, losing 7-0 in a clean sweep.

Tuesday will mark the end of the 2009 gunning season for deer, with the the exception of the muzzle loading season, and the re-opening of archery season, with both of those seasons closing on Tuesday, December 22. Christiano Ciatto Wins CT Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Christiano Ciatto, age 9, won 1st place at the Connecticut Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships on Saturday, December 12, at the Danbury PAL Building. Christiano’s dad, Dr. Paul Ciatto of New Fairfield Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation of New Fairfield, CT, won second place in the Adult Blue Belt division, and Joesph Ciatto won 3rd place in the children’s division. Heavyweight Prospect Alex Vanasse Wins Again
Alex Vanasse of Carmel, scored a 2nd Round KO this Saturday at the NY v.s. CT championships held at the Danbury PAL Building. Alex is riding a five fight Knockout streak and has a good chance to win the New York City Golden Gloves this year. Alex trains at John Carlo Boxing and USA Karate, located at the Patterson Recreation Center. Full Story
