Brewster Third Graders Perform at Danbury Mall

A holiday tradition continued this year when third graders from the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Brewster converged on the Danbury Mall.

ERIc GROSS The 74 eight- and nine-year-olds were not shopping, but singing a variety of musical selections, to the delight of scores of shoppers who frequented the regional mall prior to the holidays.

Music teacher Debbi Hvolbeck conceived the idea several years ago, and it was so well received by parents as well as mall administration and shoppers, that the students have been invited back year after year to perform.

Songs about Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and winter were sung—many in two-part harmony and contrapuntal style.
