Gertrude L. Kirsch ERIc

Kirsch, Gertrude L., age 90, a longtime resident of Bedford Hills and the surrounding area, died on Friday, December 18, 2009, in Somers.

Born on August 23, 1919, in Afoltern, Switzerland to Willie and Gertrud (Weckesser) Eisold, Gertrude later married Andreas Kirsch on June 2, 1946, in Germany, and together they came to the United States in April of 1952.

Mrs. Kirsch was a mailroom clerk for Readers Digest in Pleasantville for 18 years, retiring in 1982. She was a former member of the Purdys United Methodist Church and a past member of the Mt. Kisco and Katonah Senior Citizens. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother.

Predeceased by her husband on December 3, 1961, Mrs. Kirsch is survived by her daughter Rosemarie Blanar

of Wingdale; four grandchildren, Melody Williams, Marianna Tompkins

and her husband Jay, Raymond Blanar and his wife Jeannine, and Andrew Blanar; also a great grandson, Christopher Tompkins.

A memorial service took place on Tuesday at the Dwyer Funeral Home, in Patterson. A private cremation was held earlier.
