County Ready to Fight MTA
Putnam County continues to fight the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) recently enacted mobility tax through the courts, and will know by year’s end if neighboring counties will be joining Putnam’s legal battle to fight the levy that has been called terribly unfair. Full Story
Putnamnites Deep in Debt
Foreclosures across the county reach all-time high
County officials are calling it a sign of the times: Putnam’s foreclosure actions and judgments have reached alltime highs.
During a meeting of the Legislature’s Economic Development Committee last week, Legislator Dan Birmingham, of Brewster, who chairs the panel, reported 436 foreclosure actions for the first 11 months of the year as compared to 348 for all of 2008. Full Story
