‘I Do Solemnly Swear’

The New Year’s weekend will be a busy one in Putnam County with many swearing-in ceremonies scheduled.

Putnam County will conduct its oath taking ceremony on New Year’s Eve at 5 o’clock at the historic Putnam County Courthouse. Sheriff Donald Smith will be sworn into office along with Legislators Vincent Tamagna of Nelsonville, Mary Conklin of Patterson and Dan Birmingham of Brewster as well as Coroner Dr. Michael Nesheiwat.

A New Year’s Eve day ceremony is being planned in Philipstown when officials will take their oaths of office at 12 noon in Cold Spring.

Three ceremonies are scheduled for New Year’s Day. Carmel officials will take their oaths of office at Carmel Town Hall in Mahopac at 10am. Officials in Patterson will be sworn into office at 11am on Jan.1 at the Patterson Recreation

Center on Front Street in Patterson while in Kent, officials will be administered

their oaths at 12 noon at the Kent Town Hall.

Putnam Valley holds its swearing-in ceremony on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Putnam Valley Town Hall Justice Center.

Southeast has planned its swearingin ceremony for January 7 prior to the Town Board’s first meeting of 2010 that will take place at Town Hall on Route 22.
