Putnam Veterans Home Celebrates Christmas
In 1998, the State Senator Vincent Leibell Putnam Veterans Home opened, and each Christmas since that time, the senator and his elves visit the home off Drewville Road in Carmel to meet with the vets while exchanging holiday gifts.
Last Saturday the current residents were greeted by the senator, who reciprocated with fresh bagels and pastries. Full Story
Putnam Community Foundation Aids Senior Citizens, Revitalizes Brewster
Dozens of senior citizens gathered on the day after Christmas in the community room of a building at 50 Main Street in Brewster to say thanks to the Putnam Community Foundation.
The non-for-profit, founded a dozen years ago by State Senator Vincent Leibell, has created a variety of units of senior housing throughout eastern Putnam County as well as other community based projects. Full Story

More Flu Clinics Planned for Next Week
It’s still not too late to get your seasonal flu and H1N1 flu vaccine.
The Putnam County Health Department will be offering both H1N1 and seasonal flu inoculations next Thursday to all New Yorkers aged 10 and older.
Commissioner of Health Dr. Sherlita Amler noted that both vaccines may be received on the same day. Full Story
