Brewster’s balance, pressure defense too much for North Salem; Cirocco nets MVP honors
BREWSTER—A young and inexperienced North Salem squad was no match for Brewster at Saturday’s Putnam County Challenge tournament. The Bears took control early on – applying plenty of defensive pressure and playing a solid all-around game in securing a 67-53, non-league victory at Brewster High School.

Tigers Hang on to Trip up Haldane
PUTNAM VALLEY—
The Putnam
Valley high boys basketball team got a 53-46 win over Haldane on Saturday. The game was a part of the Putnam Challenge, hosted by Brewster.
“It was a tough physical game,” said head coach Ralph Smith. “It was a good game... The defense was good and we took care of the ball.” Full Story

MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High boys basketball team suffered a tough 65-63 loss to defending Section 1 Class B champion Lincoln Hall in the Putnam Challenge tournament Saturday at Brewster High School. Full Story

BREWSTER—Despite putting seven wrestlers in the finals and walking off with four champions, the Brewster High wrestling team had to settle for a second-place finish at the Somers tournament last Saturday, trailing only the host Tuskers. Full Story

It was snowing when I got up at 6 in the morning, and it was still snowing and blowing when I went to bed at 10 last night. SOMERS—The Kennedy Catholic High boys basketball team took on a pair of large schools last week, and came up on the short end in two losses. The Gaels dropped a 60-55 decision Saturday to Salesian, after falling to Gorton, 61-50, the prior Tuesday at the County Center. Full Story
