Outcry ensues over proposed school aid cuts
Local school officials feared doom and gloom and the worst case scenario was presented Tuesday by Governor David Paterson in his 2010-2011 budget message to members of the New York State Legislature.
School aid was ravaged by $46 million in Westchester, by $21.5 million in Dutchess, and by more than a whopping $5 million for Putnam’s seven school districts. Full Story

If Governor David Paterson has his way in the new budget season, New Yorkers will pay nearly $1 billion more in taxes and fees. The new taxes are being imposed to cover budget gaps in a 2010- 2011 budget that increases state spending during a prolonged economic downturn. Full Story

Former Tuxedo Park mayor David McFadden will announce his candidacy for the 19th Congressional District this week, the Courier has learned. McFadden will challenge Mt.
