A lifetime achievement award and a visit from the Rotary’s district governor highlighted a meeting of the Lake Mahopac Rotary.
Ted Dwyer of the Dwyer Insurance Agency in Mahopac was honored by the Putnam County Board of Realtors last week with its Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the organization.
Eileen Barrett, president of the Putnam Board of Realtors, described Dwyer as a “treasure. Ted stresses his strong commitment to ethical practices, his clients and our community each and every day. It is an honor and privilege to know a man like Ted Dwyer.”
Rotary District Governor David Green of New Windsor in Orange County also visited the club to talk about the work being performed by Rotarians throughout the Hudson Valley as well as the world.
Rotary has become deeply involved with the international Haiti relief movement as well as focusing on peace and conflict prevention and resolution.
Green said in addition Rotary chapters are focused on “disease prevention and treatment, namely the eradication of polio along with improving water and sanitation systems in third world nations.”
The district’s 60 individual clubs— five of which are found in Putnam—is each concentrating its efforts on a particular project.
