CARMEL—A determined Carmel High boys basketball team came out of the huddle between the third and fourth quarters and broke open what was a one-point game by out-scoring Mahopac 24-12 in the fourth en route to a 67-56 victory over the Indians in a League 1-A game played Saturday at Carmel. Carmel Too Hot for ’Pac, Panas
Rams end both games early, improve to 11-3
CARMEL—The Carmel High girls basketball team picked up a couple of easy wins last week, rolling past overmatched Mahopac, 62-29, Saturday, after handing Panas an equally humbling 64-35 setback the prior Wednesday on the road.
The two wins left the Rams at 11-3 overall, and sitting pretty in League 1-A at 6-0. Full Story
PV Matmen Dominate Warriors
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley wrestling team traveled to Long Island on Saturday to compete in the Stony Brook Duals, where the Tigers went head to head with Lindenhurst, Albany Academy, The Stony Brook School and Hewlette. Last Wednesday the Tigers faced Lourdes in a league matchup, and rolled to a convincing 70-18 win. Full Story
Bears Come up Short as Season Closes Out
BREWSTER—As a team, the Brewster High boys swim team may have come up short in their two meets this week, but they have plenty of individual performances to be happy about. Bears Top Lakeland, But Fall to Yorktown
BREWSTER—The Brewster High boys basketball team cruised past Lakeland, 53-28, last Wednesday, before dropping a 52-50 decision Friday at Yorktown, in a pair of League 1-A games.
The Bears also suffered a fourthquarter collapse the prior Tuesday, blowing an 11-point lead in the fourth in a 52-49 loss to Lourdes. Full Story

Bears also record 65-60 win over Briarcliff
BREWSTER—The Brewster High girls basketball team picked up a 46- 24 victory over Yorktown last Friday, but the Bears didn’t fare as well at Lakeland two days earlier, coming up on the short end of a 50-38 verdict. Brewster opened the week with a 65- 60, non-league victory over Briarcliff on the road. Full Story
Gaels Top Pawling, Magnus, Lincoln Hall
SOMERS—The Kennedy Catholic High boys basketball team picked up three wins last week – beating Lincoln Hall, 65-61, Friday, Pawling, 66- 42, the prior Wednesday, and Albertus Magnus, 64-39, two days earlier on the road.
Kennedy also came up on the short end of a 71-53 verdict Saturday on the road, and closed the week at 8-4. Full Story
JFK/PV Hockey Gets Two League Wins
PUTNAM VALLEY—The John F. Kennedy Catholic/Putnam Valley high ice hockey team got two big league wins, defeating Mahopac on Sunday 1-0, and Friday beating Pawling 3-1.
JFK/PV has been missing players most of the year, mostly due to illnesses and injuries. This weekend they finally were back to full strength. Full Story
’Pac Finishes Week Strong after Tough Start
The Mahopac wrestling team capped off a stretch of having three matches in three days with a 45-30 win over Beacon last Thursday.
That followed two losses earlier in the week. The Indians were defeated by host Arlington 41-35 last Wednesday and 36-35 by Yorktown on the road last Tuesday.
The win over Beacon brought Mahopac’s record to 7-6. Full Story
Tigers Win on Senior Night, Lose to Peekskill
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley girls basketball team played two league games at home this past weekend. Saturday they got a win over Croton 52-43, Friday they lost to Peekskill 64-34. Full Story
Rams Compete at New Balance Games
CARMEL—The Carmel High indoor track team headed up to the New Balance Games at the Armory on Saturday with a few relay teams, hoping to qualify for nationals. Competing on crowded tracks the Rams weren't able to get out in the open and run. Full Story
Bears Claw Out Eighth-Place Finish
Four-year varsity wrestler, Dan Santiago, earns 100th career win
BREWSTER—The Brewster High wrestling team took eighth-place out of 18 teams at last Saturday’s Beacon tournament, won by John Jay of Cross River.
Mike Parisi of Brewster won the 96-pound weight class, going 3-0 at the tournament.
Dan Santiago (189), Jon Peragine (125) and Nick Ghelarducci (152) all placed third, and Jim Duncan (112) took a fourth at 112 pounds. Full Story
Rams Top Beacon, Jay, Place Ninth at Beacon Tournament
CARMEL—The Carmel High wrestling team placed ninth out of 18 teams at the Beacon Tournament last Saturday. John Jay of Cross River was first.
The Rams also picked up dual meet wins over John Jay EF (41-39) and Beacon (51-34) last week, improving to 14-3. Full Story

Walleye Fever: Catch It in Putnam County!
It wasn’t fit for man or beast on Monday in Carmel, but I got an early morning call from Lori DiLorenzo, with the D.E.P. with the latest reservoir closings for the test of the 2010 ice fishing season. East Branch, Bog Brook, and Diverting Reservoirs, all in Southeast, are now closed. This is in addition to Boyd’s Corner’s and West Branch, closed last Monday. Full Story
PV Suffers Two Blowouts
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley high boys basketball team lost at Peekskill on Friday, 70-40, and also fell last Tuesday at Hen Hud, 65-36.

Lakeland Proves to be Too Much For Bears
BREWSTER—Playing against conference leading Lakeland/Panas the Brewster High hockey team battled back from a 3-0 deficit to pull within one. With the Bears threatening Lakeland responded, scoring seven of the next goals to pull away a 10-4 win. The loss drops the Bears record to 3-13 on the year, and 1-9 in conference play. Full Story
Lady Indians Fall to Carmel, Yorktown
The Mahopac High School girls basketball team fell to rival Carmel on the road 62-29 on Saturday, after losing at home to Yorktown 60-39 last Tuesday.
Those losses dropped the Indians’ record to 0-12 on the season. Full Story
Indians Suffer Tough Losses to Carmel, Yorktown
The Mahopac High boys’ basketball team dropped a tough game to Carmel on the road 67-57 on Saturday to fall to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in League C play.
That followed a 55-42 road loss to Yorktown in another league game last Wednesday. Full Story
Barnes, Serpe Star as Rams Nab Two Wins
CARMEL—In their two games this week the Carmel High hockey team only had two players score, but it was more than enough. The Rams picked up two wins against non-conference opponents O'Neill and Greeley, outscoring them 7-1. With the wins the Rams now have a record of 9-6. Full Story
