Rams Slip Up Against Ossining
CARMEL—With their season winding down, a short-handed Carmel High hockey team lost to conference opponent Ossining, 5-2 on Friday night at the Brewster Ice Arena.
Playing without their starting goalie, the Rams fell behind 5-0, before scoring two third-period goals.
“We went in a little under-manned, Marc Glaviano had a bad hand, so I held him out. We also had an issue with a defense man who sat out,” said coach Tom Domicoli. “Regardless, we buried ourselves early, and never recovered. We didn't play well from the beginning and they jumped all over us.”
Freshman Gray Barnes made the start in net and made six saves before sophomore Anthony Fagan took over in the second. Fagan stopped all ten shots he faced.
“For a new guy, Fagan's played very well, he's split time, but he played very well,” said Domicoli. “Gray made some nice saves, but I think he got his confidence shaken after they scored two goals. Obviously none of those guys compare to Glaviano, he's our MVP.”
Sophomore Jackie Barnes and junior Josh Serpe scored for the Rams. Barnes was also credited with an assist, along with freshman James Salleberry and junior Dylan Rattigan.
“I'm just hoping that they let it go, and just chalk it up to a bad night. They knew they were missing two of their better players,” said Domicoli. “They're excited about the Friday night game against Mahopac, it's probably the one game they circled on the calendar at the beginning of the year.”
Glaviano and the rest of the Rams will return to action this weekend with two conference games. The Rams will face Mahopac at 7 p.m. on Friday February 5. They'll follow that with a game against Kennedy/Putnam Valley on Sunday February 7 at 3:45. Both games will be played at the Brewster Ice Arena.
