Brooklyn dad & daughter lucky to be alive
A father and daughter are lucky to be alive after falling through thin ice on the Muscoot Reservoir in Somers.
Yan Frant, 62, and his 36-year-old daughter Ynessa, both of Brooklyn, were rescued by firefighters and police last Thursday morning after they fell into the frigid waters while ice fishing. Full Story
Torch ignites house fire
A man reportedly attempting to thaw frozen hunting equipment in the basement of his home accidentally caused a fire that heavily damaged the large two-story structure.
Fire crews from both Putnam and northern Westchester were summoned to the residence on Moore Drive off Route 118 in the Shenorock section of Somers last week. Full Story

Smoke detector saves man’s life in Lake Carmel
The shrill sound of a smoke detector awakened a Lake Carmel man early Wednesday and authorities said it saved his life.
A blaze broke out at the Robert Sprague residence on Lakeshore Drive around 3:30am, when a wood-burning stove ignited an interior wall in the one story wood frame dwelling. Full Story
