Glaviano’s Heroics Carry Rams Into Second Round
Carmel tops North, 3-1 in opener
CARMEL—Two weeks ago senior Marc Glaviano picked up his first career shutout, and on Sunday he turned in an even more impressive performance.

Glaviano finished with 46 saves to lead the seventh-seeded Carmel High ice hockey team past 10th seeded Clarkstown North, 3-1, in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.
“Marc was unbelievable in goal,” said coach Tom Domicoli. “Their team was skating up the ice with their hands in the air, they couldn't believe it. He was absolutely unbelievable last night.”
Clarkstown scored its only goal in the game late in the first, but put the puck in its own net on the very next shift to give the Rams some momentum heading into the second period.
“Our first goal was kind of a fluke goal,” said Domicoli. “Their defenseman threw the puck in front of their net, it bounced off a skate and went it.”
Sophomore Michael McCabe was credited with the goal.
Following the back-to-back goals, the game remained tied until late in the second period, when senior Tom Jezik and junior Josh Serpe scored a pair of goals to provide the Rams with a 3-1 lead.
“Serpe's goal was unbelievable, he had a slap shot that the goalie couldn't even move on … it was a blast,” said Domicoli.
Neither team was able to score in the final period, as the Rams held on to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
The Rams were scheduled to play second seeded Mamaroneck at Hommocks on Tuesday night, too late for inclusion in this week's paper.
