Town Board awards contracts for water maintenance
Just before the snow began to fall last week, the Town of Carmel conducted its regularly scheduled Town Board Meeting, and appointed Giulio Cefaloni to the Ethics board, replacing outgoing member Christopher O’Toole.
The board quickly and without dissenting votes conducted other town business. Rockville Construction of Yorktown Heights was awarded the contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades in Carmel. Rockville was the second low bidder, at $3.2 million, but received the contract after the lowest-bidder dropped out.
The Town Board also awarded water district operation and maintenance contracts to B&J Plumbing for Water Districts 1,5,6,7,8,9,10, 13 and 14 from 2011-15.
“Their response time is very short,” said Schmitt, “I will support B&J plumbing in the awarding of this contract for five years.”
B&J will receive $230,484 each year of the first three years of the five-year contract. In 2014, B&J will receive $238,521 and in 2015, Carmel will pay $246,846 for B&J’s services.
Supervisor Schmitt also took time to thank the Harlem Magic Masters, a basketball entertainment troupe, for the work they did in helping the local Rotary groups raise money in February. Schmitt, who stands 6 ft. 4 in. tall, played center and said he had a great time at the game.
