County helps Habitat for Humanity
Two local families in desperate need of housing will be the benefactors once Habitat for Humanity constructs dwellings in Patterson and Putnam Valley.
At its monthly meeting Tuesday evening the Putnam Legislature approved the sale to the non-for-profit organization, for $10, of the two properties that the county obtained in a tax foreclosure proceeding. Full Story

Dismal Revenue Figures for County
When it comes to sales tax, the new year has begun where 2009 has left off. Last week members of the county legislature’s audit committee heard Commissioner of Finance William Carlin’s report for January indicating that shoppers spent $3,344,403 in sales tax last month, a $257,000 decline from January 2009. Pawling Man Admits Killing Patterson Motorcyclist
A 22-year old Pawling man admitted in court that he was high on alcohol and drugs when he killed a 19-year-old Patterson youth last summer.
Keith Johnson entered his guilty plea in Dutchess County Court last week to one count of vehicular manslaughter, a Class C felony carrying a maximum 15-year state prison term. Full Story
