Book covers created by Mahopac Middle School students

The students on Team 7D at Mahopac Middle school were recently given an assignment to “sell” a book to their classmates. Their teacher, Ms. Fran Gordon, wasn’t expecting her students to collect any money— she was encouraging them to “advertise” their book in a way that would encourage other students to read it. The resulting advertisement posters are now on display in the Young Arts Gallery at Mahopac Public Library through April 7.

Ms. Gordon’s Team 7D Book Report Project features an imaginative display of twenty-three posters that depict such books as The Baby Sitters Club, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and The Secret Life of Bees.

The posters currently on display were created by the following Team 7D students: Christina Russo, John Fenty, Niki Ruh, Brianna Weiner, Rachel DeMarzo, Katherine Manna, Jane Kasparian, Tom McNerney, Ralph Strobel, Amanda Pollini, Heather Ryan, Marlena Michalczuk, Melissa King, Gaby Centrone, Lauren Colabattista, Mikaela Dibello, Rebecca Santoiemma, Marina Glinias, Victoria Peechatt, Emily Westin, Julia Fitzgerald, Kristina Sokerka, and Nick Sehring.

The Young Arts Gallery at the Mahopac Public Library is located on the first floor in the entryway to the Children’s Wing.

The gallery is open during regular library hours. For further information, please call 845-628-2009, ext 100.
