Town board discusses spring preparations
Michael Brendan Dougherty
Kent’s police force will receive two laptops courtesy of money obtained through the County’s Stop DWI program. The purchase of the two Panasonic computers was authorized by the Kent Town Board on Monday night, and the town will receive reimbursement from the Stop DWI program, which shares fines collected from DWI enforcement.
The Town Board also discussed arrangements for the Kent White Sox baseball team to use the town fields, causing the Board to long for the coming spring weather. When asked about obtaining keys to operate the scoreboard, Board member Michael Tierney noted that the “town would have to create a policy” for the keys. “I’ve seen twenty kids running up and down the stairs. If one of them takes a header, who is holding the buck? We are,” said Tierney.
The town also took care of smaller details, approving the call for bids for contracts to clean up town facilities, and a notice for an opening on the Board of Assessment Review, left by the vacating Dennis Illuminate.
In keeping with their annual tradition, the Town of Kent will distribute awards and proclamations to a host of residents who have volunteered, or otherwise served Kent in the past year, at the next Town Board meeting on March 22.
