“Taxes are complicated; there are a lot of things you can miss,” said Suozzi. “When people are doing their taxes on their own, they don’t have the experience on their own.” Liberty Tax Service, Suozzi said, strives to be “friendly, accurate, and guaranteed.”

In an age when people are turning to software or online tools for filing tax returns, Suozzi insisted that nothing can replace the knowledge of an experienced accountant. “I’ve had people come to us saying they bought Turbo Tax, but they’re not confident they are doing it right,” said Suozzi. “They come in here and they get a different number.”

Things change every year. Suozzi mentioned the new make-work pay schedule and first time homebuyers’ credit, which can’t be e-filed. Liberty Tax service has a competent staff that can handle not only personal returns, but serves those that have a small business, as well. And Suozzi has made efforts to keep his services family friendly—there is a small play area to keep children entertained when their parents come in.

“We really strive to give great customer service,” said Suozzi, “we want people to bring their kids. And we work to help customers understand the process: what they owe, what they can expect.”

Liberty is offering specials throughout the month of March for teachers, military service personnel, firemen, and police. And though March and April are his busy season, Suozzi is available to help people with tax issues throughout the year by appointment.

Suozzi is gratified by the experience of opening up his business this past year, “I’m so happy with the tax preparers I’ve hired, everyone is really dedicated to what they are doing,” he reported. “A lot of people don’t know we’re here yet, but we’re slowly getting recognition through referrals, word of mouth.”
