Jewelry Thief
A 31-year-old Patterson woman is facing a lengthy state prison term following her arrest in connection with a residential burglary in Yorktown Heights.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department was notified last week by Yorktown Police that detectives were investigating the February 13 break-in and theft of a quantity of jewelry and a credit card.
Sheriff Donald Smith told the Courier a determination was made that the stolen credit card had been used to purchase a $200 gold ring from Kohl’s Department Store in Southeast.
Investigator Christopher Spiconardi was assigned the case, and, as a result of his probe, the sheriff said Licari was identified as the woman who possessed and used the stolen credit card at the department store: “Ms. Licari was brought to the sheriff’s office for questioning and based on the information provided, Yorktown detectives were able to recover some of the stolen jewelry in New York City. In the meantime, our investigators executed a search warrant at the woman’s residence on Fair Street in Patterson and recovered more than 20 pieces of stolen jewelry.”
Licari was arrested on charges of second degree forgery as well as criminal possession of stolen property. She was arraigned by Southeast Judge Richard Vercollone and was remanded to the Putnam Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail pending an April 6 hearing in Patterson. Licari also faces charges in Yorktown.
District Attorney Adam Levy said the Putnam charges were Class D felonies carrying seven-year state prison terms if found guilty.
