Where is the Outrage?

Dear Editor:

If and when Patterson crossing starts, the construction and dynamite blasting of the hill in what is a residential area will threaten the foundations and the wells of the homes in the surrounding streets. (Lake Shore Dr. East, Club House Dr., Echo Rd., Vernon Dr., etc.)

Trucks will be rolling for many months coming and going, causing the start of overwhelming traffic in what now a residential area. Kent police will be called on to protect and defend.

What’s even worse is when Costco opens. It will attract cars coming up Route 6 as far as Jefferson Valley and Mahopac in through the hamlet of Carmel [and] more cars from Putnam Valley up 301 into Carmel and up through Gleneida Avenue, up 52 to overload Rt. 311. Accidents will increase and we in Kent will lose the quality of life in our beloved Lake Carmel area. Lake Carmel is a residential area and is not a strategic location for a large commercial shopping area.

Kent residents should stand with the courageous many a against Patterson Crossing, and against the politicians that turn their eyes away, and against the greedy men who will do this dirty deed.
