Helen Barrett

Helen Barrett, age 89, a longtime resident of Patterson, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at her son’s home in Patterson.

Helen was born in Patterson on May 26, 1920, to George and Hazel (Wood) Heady. She was a 1936 graduate of Brewster High School.

Helen married Earl Barrett on June 27, 1937, in Patterson.Mr. Barrett died in 1975.

Helen worked as a secretary for the Putnam County Attorney for 37 years before retiring in 1980. During that time she also worked as a secretary for the Town of Patterson. She also enjoyed reading and traveling. In 1999 she went to live with her daughter Linda in Wappingers Falls. Together in 2006, they moved on to Spencerport, NY.

Helen’s entire life was devoted to the love of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Liucci and her husband, Frank, of Spencerport, NY; her son, Harold W. Barrett and his wife, Mary, of Patterson. She is also survived by her extended family, Larry and Marilyn Smith of Brewster, NY, and Kay Smith of New Milford, CT, and her grandsons, Christopher Liucci and his wife Paula of Brockport, NY, and Glen Liucci and his wife Alisa of Hilton, NY. Helen is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Victoria, Daniel, Kaitlyn and Justin; nieces, Kathy Kilian and Debra Esposito, both of Pawling, NY; and a nephew, Larry Smith of Brewster and their families.

A funeral service was held on March 24 at the Dwyer Funeral Home in Patterson. Interment followed at Maple Avenue Cemetery.
