Exploring the Cemeteries of Carmel
Today, amongst the hillsides, valleys, fields and watershed properties, are twenty-one cemeteries located within the Town of Carmel. Some are obvious, some obscure, some are difficult to get to, while two, are just plain missing. Additionally, cemeteries inundated by the construction of the reservoirs, lost Indian cemeteries and individual gravesites are also documented. Full Story

Logan MacDougall is hoping that a cure can be found for his rare disease.
The soon-to-be-nine-year-old Mahopac boy will be celebrating his birthday next week not with a cake but, for the seventh consecutive, year with another surgery. Logan has already undergone 20 surgeries and procedures in his young life. Full Story

Hall Sides with Sweeping Health Care Legislation
1,000-page bill becomes law
Congressman John Hall called his vote, “the most important vote I have cast since I took office.” The controversial legislation, over 1,200 pages long was passed late on Sunday night, and received President Obama’s signature on Monday, it now awaits votes in the Senate to amend portions of the new law via a controversial process known as “budget reconciliation.” Full Story

A Danbury man is facing a variety of charges when appearing in Carmel Town Court next month after advising police that he was his twin brother following a property-damage crash.
Carmel Police investigated the mishap last week at midnight in the parking lot of the Lake Plaza Shopping Center in Mahopac. Full Story
Putnam Lake Man Arrested for Discharging Firearm
Less than 24 hours after State Police shot and killed a man who used a shotgun to blow open the front door of a Dutchess County home where his estranged wife lived, and allegedly threatened a trooper by pointing his gun at the officer, Brewster State Police arrested a Putnam Lake man for discharging a gun inside his residence during a domestic dispute. Two Women Charged with Insurance Fraud
Two women—one from Stormville and the second from Carmel— are facing felony charges of grand larceny, forgery, and health care fraud for allegedly submitting false claims for medical services to an insurance company. Full Story
