Harvey Meyer

Harvey Meyer, a longtime Brewster resident died Monday March 29, 2010, at the age of 93.

Mr. Meyer was born May 27, 1916 in New York City, son of the late Bernard & Clementina (Oscity) Meyer.

He served with the United States Marine Corps during WWII from 1943 to 1946 and participated in action in Iwo Jima. After the war he married Dorothy Peers in New York city on December 10, 1947. They moved from New York to Brewster over 48 years ago.

Mr. Meyer was a landscaper for Fletcher Landscaping in Carmel for 30 years. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Brewster, a member of the Brewster Elks Lodge 2101, and a life member of the Brewster VFW Post 672.

Mr. Meyer was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, in 1998. He is survived by his six children, Kenneth Meyer of Cleveland, OH, Lawrence Meyer of Catskill, NY, John Meyer of New Milford, CT, Linda Twomey of Concord, MA, Leslie Burr of Chatham , MA, and Victoria Wilcox of Allentown, PA; a nephew, John Peers of Cario, NY; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 1, 2010, at 10am at Beecher Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Milltown Rural Cemetery in Brewster.
