Bears also rip Foxes behind balanced scoring effort
BREWSTER—Eight Brewster players reached the scoring column last Thursday, as the Brewster High lacrosse team rolled over Fox Lane, 9-2 in a game played at Brewster High. The Bears also slipped past Horace Greeley, 8-7, the prior Tuesday in Chappaqua.
Thursday against Fox Lane (1-2), after an even first quarter (1-1), the Bears pulled away with a 4-0 run in the second, and a 3-0 edge in the third.
For Brewster (2-2), Matt Heintz and Kevin Farrell each came up with two goals, MJ Garrity had a goal and three assists, Doug Biondi had a goal and two assists, Ryan Minsker, Tim Meyer, and Anthony Alfonzetti each had a goal, and Zach Salvia dished out a pair of assists.
Andrew Nicol stopped 10 shots on goal in the Brewster net, and Cameron Stevens had eight saves for the Foxes.
“I thought we played pretty well,” Bears coach Michael Honey said. “We possessed the ball for most of the game, but we didn’t shoot very well. We did do well on faceoffs, and scored on two man-ups. Andrew Nicol played very well in goal, and Salvia was great on ground balls.”

The prior Tuesday, Paul Dingee’s goal, off pass from Farrell, with 5:24 remaining turned out to be the gamewinner.
That goal gave the Bears an 8-5 lead, and Brewster then held on in the final minutes, as Greeley came back to make it a one-goal game.
“We basically held on,” Honey said. “Greeley got two unsettled goals, then another goal, and it was 8-7 with 2:00left, then our defense did a great job in the last few minutes.”
