Sutton Joy Hazzard

Sutton Joy Hazzard, our precious little peanut, made her way to Heaven after 27 days of life.

Sutton Joy was born April 1, 2010,at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she spent her short time on earth in the New Born Special Care Unit.

A fighter throughout, this little angel was the daughter of Richard Thomas, Jr. and Carol Ann (Eastwood) Hazzard. Born 6 weeks premature at just 3 lbs 8 ozs, her will to live was an example to us all.

Despite her continued complications with breathing, Sutton could still be comforted by the love of her Mama and Daddy as they drew her near, but the peace, joy and comfort she brought to them was immeasurable. Her handprints will remain on their hearts forever.

Besides her parents, Sutton is survived by her sisters, Greer Elizabeth and Sloane Victoria of Patterson; her maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Dorothy Eastwood of Brewster; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Donna Hazzard of Patterson; her great grandfather, Donald McLagan of Waycross, GA; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of who love her so very much.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 30, at 10am at St. John’s The Evangelist Church, 39 East Main St., Pawling.

Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson. Family and friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, on Thursday from 3 to 7pm.

Sutton’s family wishes to acknowledge the love, care, and compassion shown by the nurses, doctors and staff of the NBSCU at Yale. We will be forever grateful.

If you find it in your heart to do so, donations in Sutton Joy’s name may be made to the:

New Born Special Care Unit Fleece Lamb Fund, NBSCU – CH 4, C/O Yale-New Haven Hospital, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06504.
