The number has risen to six, and still counting!
In March four of Brewster High School’s best, brightest, and most athletic signed letters of intent to attend college and university next fall. Last Thursday two additional students signed their agreements to participate in sports while studying at Mercy College in September.
The ceremonial letter signings for Kristen Sliman, who is currently an all-star shortstop on the BHS Lady Bears softball team, and for lacrosse standout Christine Feighan, took place at the school before parents and Brewster School personnel.
Kristen said she was “thrilled to be headed to Mercy in the fall. I can’t wait to become an official Mercy Maverick.”
Christine agreed with her classmate: “The school offers so many opportunities, both in the academic arena as well as on the athletic field.”

The school’s athletic director, Lance Pliego, congratulated each of the students for their academic and athletic achievements as well as their parents for “being there for your kids. Moms and dads—you have all done a great job of parenting.”
Last month’s letters of intent were signed by Kristi Edleson, a champion swimmer, who has agreed to study at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mike Thomas, a cross-country standout, will be attending Siena College outside of Albany. Miriam Munn has agreed to study and join the cross-country team at the State University of New York College at Oneonta while Brian McNamara, a star pitcher for the BHS Bears, will also be attending Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry.
