Thomas Christopher Wichtendahl

Thomas Christopher Wichtendahl, 46, passed away suddenly in his sleep on Saturday, May 8, 2010 in San Antonio, TX, while attending his son’s graduation from Basic Training at Lackland A.F.B.

Tom was born in Yonkers to Chuck and Peggy Wichtendahl on August 29, 1963. The family moved to Holmes in 1978 where Tom graduated from Pawling High School in 1981. After graduation, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he became a Seabee. Tom was a reservist until 2006. His unit was activated in 2004 and he was deployed to Kuwait until July 2005. Tom was the owner of White Start Plumbing & Heating and served as a Town of Pawling Constable.

Tom enjoyed many extra-curricular activities. He was a certified scuba diver and appeared as a TV extra in many shows, most notably, Rescue Me. He was also a motorcycle rider and car enthusiast. He was also a past volunteer at the Putnam County Humane Society.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqui (nee Quinn) and his two sons, Thomas Allen & Jacob Pierce; his parents, Chuck and Peggy Wichtendahl of Patterson; his brother Chuck and Donna Wichtendahl of Poughquag and their children Kristin and CJ; his sister, Stephanie & Chris Barrett of Powder Springs, GA, and their children, Kevin and Kate; his Aunt Mary Ann Fernandes and cousins Danny, Maryann, and Donna of Naples, FL; Rosemary DiLonardo and Frank Mina of New York, NY.

Other members of Tom’s family include Jim & Audra Quinn of Danbury, CT; Jim Quinn, Shirley Quinn & Gary Moore of Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dana Vaccaro of Brewster; Kyle Conlan of Yorktown; Maryann McDonald of Danbury, CT.

Tom was an incredibly fun-loving person with a wacky sense of humor. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday & Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 14th at 11am at St. John’s Church in Pawling; burial will follow in Pawling Cemetery, Pawling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Tom’s name to one of the following: Putnam County Humane Society ASPCA, Pawling Fire Department or the Wounded Warrior Project.
