MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High boys lacrosse team opened its week with an easy win over Arlington, before taking a disappointing loss to Guilderland. Bears Struggle in Losses at Morabito Tourney
BREWSTER—It was a week the Brewster High softball team would rather forget, as the Bears (4-7, 1-2) dropped a pair of league games to Yorktown, and went 1-3 in the Morabito tournament in Binghamton.
The Bears opened their week with Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Huskers, and followed that up with a 2-0 loss to the Huskers once again, before the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Full Story
Rams Cont inue Run wi th Two Wins Over Panas, Improve to 12-1
CARMEL—The Carmel High baseball team continued to get contributions from up and down the lineup last week in handing Walter Panas a pair of League 2-B losses. The Rams rolled to a 13-6 win Friday at Carmel, after taking a 5-2 decision from the Panthers two days earlier at Panas.
The two wins left the Rams at 12-1 overall, and 6-0 in league play. Full Story

BREWSTER—The Brewster High girls lacrosse team has not been playing its best lacrosse recently, according to coach Gerry Walsh, but the Bears had their moments last week. Brewster was spanked, 16-3, Monday by Yorktown, but the Bears posted a 12-11 victory over Greeley Friday, and topped Wappingers, 13-7, two days earlier. Full Story

MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High girls lacrosse team endured a tough stretch last week, losing all three of its games to North Rockland, Lakeland/Panas and Suffern. Each of them were road games for the Indians. Full Story
PV Splits Two League Games with Ossining
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley High School softball team split a set of games against Ossining last week. On Friday Put Valley won at Ossining, 14-3, but the Tigers lost Wednesday at home, 5-2. Friday was a hit-fest for the Tigers, but quiet bats and some errors unraveled them on Wednesday. Full Story
Tigers Split with Ossining, Lose to Croton-Harmon
The Putnam Valley High baseball team split two games against Ossining and dropped one to Croton last week. The Tigers defeated Ossining Thursday on the road 10-6 one day after losing to the same team at home by a score of 4-2.
Those games were preceded by the 5-0 loss to Croton-Harmon last Tuesday.
Putnam Valley now stands at 4-9 overall and 2-3 in League 1-D. Full Story
’Pac Softball Team Picks Up Two over Lakeland
The Mahopac High softball team was able to pick up two big league victories by defeating Lakeland twice last week. The Indians and Hornets faced off last Wednesday at Lakeland and Mahopac came away with a 2-1 victory, before the two teams met again at Mahopac High School two days later. The Indians also came away with a victory in that one, turning back the visiting Hornets, 5-1. Full Story
Carmel Takes Two Games Against Panas
CARMEL—The Carmel High softball team proved it is capable of winning games with or without a strong offensive performance. After scratching out a 4-2 win over Panas on Wednesday, the Rams (4-5, 3-2) followed that with Friday's 13-2 win over the same team. Full Story
PV Ties Pleasantville, Loses to Ossining
PUTNAM VALLEY—The Putnam Valley high girls lacrosse team tied Pleasantville, 16-16, on Friday in a tough game. On Wednesday the Tigers lost a league game to Ossining, 19-10.
On Friday the Tigers were home to play a crossover game against Pleasantville. It was a tight game from start to finish but it ended in a tie. Full Story
Indians’ Win Streak Snapped At Six
MAHOPAC—The Mahopac High baseball team was on the verge of winning two straight over Lakeland, before the Hornets rallied late to steal the second contest. After Wednesday's 3-0 win, the Indians (8-5, 4-1) had the Hornets down to their final four outs, before they broke through to come away with a 7-2 win. Full Story
Gaels Defeat Blind Brook, Lose to North Salem
SOMERS—The John F. Kennedy Catholic High girls lacrosse team split the two games it played last week, losing to North Salem, 13-7, in a League 3 game last Friday after defeating Blind Brook, 15-5, last Wednesday. Both were home games.

Looking Past the Bad Omens
If I was worried about a bad omen, on a Monday morning in May, I got one first thing as I took a cup of heated coffee out of the microwave. There out the back kitchen window, a movement caught my eye. At first I thought it was my cat, Gallegher, but it turned out to be a turkey buzzard, then another. Then I remembered I had put the remnants of a ham bone out back in the woodlot. Full Story
Bears Perform Well at Loucks Meet
BREWSTER—The Brewster High track team took a small team out to the Glenn D. Loucks Games and came away feeling pretty good with how they performed in the highly competitive meet.
Competing with approximately 250 schools, the Bears found most of their success with the boys, highlighted by two relay teams. Full Story

SOMERS—After splitting a pair of blowouts, the Kennedy Catholic boys lacrosse team came up short in its bid for a come-from-behind win to close out the week.
The Gaels (3-9, 2-7) rebounded from Tuesday's 14-2 loss to Putnam Valley with a dominating, 18-3 win over Peekskill on Thursday, before Saturday's 7-6 loss at Haldane. Full Story
