John J. Tierney, age 84, of Brewster, New York died Wednesday May 12, 2010, in Ridgefield, Conn.

Mr. Tierney was born Sept. 13, 1925, in New York, N.Y., son of the late James and Delia (Casey) Tierney. He married Helen Beatty in St. Jerome’s Church in the Bronx on March 18, 1945. Helen predeceased John on Feb. 17, 1999. Mr. Tierney served in the Navy during WWII, and then worked as a conductor for Metro-North in Brewster for 45 years before retiring in 1988.

Mr. Tierney is survived by his three sons; John (Diane) of Milford, Conn.; Thomas (Kathy) of Mahopac; James (Mary) of Brookfield, Conn.; a brother Michael of Las Vegas, Nevada; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday May 15, 2010 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Interment followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. The wake was held at the Beecher Funeral Home, on Fri. May 14th.
