Feis Celebrates Our County’s Irish Heritage
Thousands of Irish-Americans and those who became Irishmen for the day crowded into the Putnam Veterans Memorial Park in Kent Sunday for a county tradition—the annual Putnam County Feis.
Vehicles in the parking lot bore license plates from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as well as from Ohio, Maryland, Florida, and even Canada. Full Story

Falling Gas Prices? Not in Putnam!
A general decline in gasoline prices throughout the northeast is not being felt in Putnam County.
Tom Kloza of the National Oil Information Price Service said the decline in prices began filtering down to motorists 10 days ago, but, Kloza stressed, “it will take several weeks for the full effect to be reflected at the pump.” Full Story

Capsized Rowboat Sends Out the Troops
A report of a capsized rowboat in the middle of the West Branch Reservoir in Carmel resulted in a massive rescue effort by police, fire, and EMS divers.
A motorist crossing the causeway on Route 301 noticed the craft bobbing in the water around 8pm last Wednesday and called 911. Full Story
