The kindergarten class of St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel sent Mark Castelli, a Carmel High School graduate and cadet at West Point, a large box of Valentine’s Day cards this past February, and on Wednesday morning Cadet Castelli came to thank them personally.
While on his visit he gave them some insight into what it’s like to be a West Point Cadet, and what being a Cadet or Plebe means.
After Cadet Castelli spoke, the students asked a variety of questions. They wanted to know if Cadets sleep in bunk beds, do they march in parades, and do the have to exercise. They also asked if Cadets have to work and go to school, and what time do they go to bed.
The students had a great time with Cadet Castelli, who is headed off for more training.
Cadet Castelli will be going to flight training school in Alabama and will be flying helicopters once his training is complete.
