The New York State County Treasurers and Finance Officers Association have honored Putnam Commissioner of Finance William Carlin with the President’s Award for 2010.
Carlin was recognized for his “dedication and hard work” on behalf of the people of Putnam County as well as the entire organization.
Carlin along with his chief deputy commissioner Anita Gilbert and deputy commissioner James McConnell were congratulated by County Executive Robert Bondi last Thursday during a ceremony at the executive’s office.
Bondi said during the past year Carlin served as president of the association and “carried out his duties in an exemplary manner. The entire association holds Bill in high regard.”
Carlin said the association addresses issues of financial matters that affect “every elected official in New York State from the tip of Suffolk County on Long Island to the far reaches of Fredonia in western New York.”
Carlin recalled 20 years ago how he started in the association as the “rookie on the block. Now I’m affectionately referred to as the ‘dean of the Hudson Valley’ because I am the longest tenured commissioner of finance-treasurer in the entire region. That’s quite the recognition.”
Carlin thanked his deputy commissioners and staff members for their assistance: “In reality this award belongs to the entire team because we could not succeed without the fine and dedicated workers we have in the Finance Department.”
Carlin said he was blessed to have had a “great boss in Bob Bondi over these years. Bob’s expertise in finance had made my job in finance easier over these past two decades.”
