History comes to life at CV Starr School
Children at the C.V. Starr Intermediate School in Brewster now understand what it meant to live in the 18th century.

Outdoor Environmental Center opens
An ecological science laboratory behind Brewster High School has become the centerpiece of the school’s environmental science program thanks to the efforts of State Senator Vincent Leibell.
Two years ago the senator garnered a $50,000 state grant that allowed the Brewster School District to construct and equip the outdoor environmental education center. Full Story
Mortgage Tax Receipts Rebound
The checks are in the mail.
Putnam’s six towns and three villages will be receiving mortgage tax reimbursements from the county any day now following legislative approval of the report covering October 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010. Full Story
Tickets for benefit circus performance are still available
The circus comes to Brewster next week.

A prom tradition continues
The girls felt really special when entering On Line Hair Design in Brewster.
For the 18th consecutive year, the salon located off Route 22 closed its business for the day last Friday in order to prepare Brewster High School students for their senior prom. Full Story
Remembering Barbara Gillette
Barbara Gillette loved nature.
It was only fitting that the Henry Wells Middle School family remember their beloved colleague, who died suddenly in March, by planting a cherry tree in her memory on a hill overlooking the school off Route 312 in Southeast. Full Story

Carmel Rotarians are once again demonstrating their motto of “service above self” by aiding residents of the Gleneida Court senior housing complex along Seminary Hill Road in Carmel. Full Story
Library budget approved
A cheer rang out at the Mahopac Library late Tuesday.
Residents in the service boundaries of the Mahopac School District approved a $2.6 million budget by nearly a 2-1 margin 527-283.
Library director Patricia Kaufman thanked the community for its support, along with her staff for its dedicated work. Full Story
