Lockdown at Carmel High
An alleged threat at Carmel High School forced officials to lock down the campus Monday and dismiss school early.
A small army of police officers from the Sheriff’s Department and Carmel Police converged on the Fair Street campus after school administration working in conjunction with law enforcement decided that early dismissal would ensure the safety of all students. Full Story

County Officials Irked by Southeast Landfill Rejection
Putnam County officials are aghast over a unanimous decision reached by the Southeast Town Board to reject accepting trash contained at the former county landfill in Carmel, which would have consolidated the county site with the town facility.
Now Putnam will advise the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation that it will begun pursuing a capping initiative. Full Story
