Deceased White Plains Police Officer Had Putnam Roots
White Plains Police Detective Michael Perry, who suffered a fatal heart attack while pursuing a criminal last weekend had roots in Putnam County.
The 43-year-old married father of six-year-old twin boys was the son of Patrick and Patricia Perry of Mahopac Falls. Patrick Perry was the former Inspector General of the Putnam Sheriff’s Department. Full Story

Red Cross Volunteers Prepare for Disaster

The disturbing news that the incidence of postpartum depression is on the increase in Putnam was brought to members of the Putnam Legislature’s Health Committee last week by Commissioner of Health Dr. Sherlita Amler, Supervising Public Nurse Kathy Percacciolo, and Maternal Child Care Nurses Diane Liscia and Lisa Harrington. Hit and Run Crash Damages Railroad Bridge
An old railroad bridge was knocked off its foundation by a large vehicle that fled the scene. The bizarre incident took place last week on Route 164 at Bullet Hole Road in Patterson. A passerby noticed the bridge hanging and called 911. Full Story
