He Likes Mike

Dear Editor:

With the New York State budget over 10 weeks late, it’s far past time to reconsider the men and women we have chosen to represent us in Albany. As if failing to deliver an on time budget wasn’t insult enough, hospitals in our community are facing drastic cuts in funding at the hands of the Assembly and State Senate. Albany wants to jeopardize the invaluable services provided by these hospitals by slashing funding by 18 million dollars in Westchester and Putnam Counties alone. While we need legislators who can try to dig us out of the tremendous deficit New York is in, it is just as important to elect those who can make the educated, responsible decisions we deserve without risking essential services. As a resident of Kent, I’m voting for Mike Kaplowitz this November.

Kaplowitz’s legislative experience, teamed with his financial service background, is exactly what our state needs during these difficult times. We’ve suffered far too long because of dysfunction in Albany. New Yorkers across the state need to pay close attention to their ballots this fall, not only so that we don’t repeat this awful mess again, but so that we can finally have a State Senate that cares about the people.

It can reasonably be argued, by people of integrity, that his presence in the Senate for the last several years could well have helped to avoid the crisis we find ourselves now mired in. He did as much for Westchester as a member of their Legislature. We need Mike!
