Helena Marie Thomas of Carmel, NY, died suddenly on Tues. July 6, 2010 in Carmel at the age of 64.

Mrs. Thomas was born Aug. 8, 1945 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Francis W. and Marion H. (Hickey) Twomey. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Boston, in 1964. On June 15, 1968, she married John Thomas in Weymouth, MA, and then received her LPN. Mrs. Thomas moved from Boston to Brewster in 1979, and then to Carmel in 1995. She was a member of St. James the Apostle Church and worked as a nurse with PARC in Carmel and the Visiting Nurse Association of Westchester for 20 years before retiring from private duty nursing in 2005.

In addition to her husband John of Carmel, she is survived by her daughter, Anne Thomas of Bethel, CT, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sat. July 10, 2010 at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel. Interment will be private.
