Camper Airlifted Following Fall at Summer Camp
A boy attending Camp Herrlich in Patterson was airlifted to the Westchester Medical Center Monday following a freak mishap at the year-round facility along Deacon Smith Hill Road.
State Police said the child, who was not identified, fell and cracked his head and became unconscious. Full Story

Reidy Tapped to Head School Administrator Group
Former Mahopac Superintendent Dr. Robert Reidy has been appointed as executive director of the New York State Council of School Superintendents.
Reidy, 64, who resides in Mahopac with his wife Michelle, retired from public education two years ago after serving the educational community for 40 years, thirty-one of which as superintendent. Full Story
Board of Education Reorganizes
The Mahopac Board of Education annual reorganizational meeting held July 6 in the Lakeview School, lasted all of five minutes but covered a lot of ground. Although schools are out of session, they are currently being cleaned and prepped for September. Full Story

A Ride To Remember
On September 4, 2009, while en route to his daily AA meeting, Jeff Coursen died when a deer collided with his motorcycle near his home. Jeff, a recovering alcoholic, served as an AA sponsor to many young people and attended daily AA meetings with his sponsees. Full Story

Karl Rohde Appointed Putnam Historian
The man affectionately referred to as “Mr. Veteran” in Putnam County has been appointed as the county’s new historian.
Karl Rohde, a past Putnam County VFW commander and former Commander of the New York State Veterans of Foreign Wars, was unanimously confirmed by the Putnam Legislature last week following his appointment by County Executive Robert Bondi. Full Story
