Raging Inferno is Not Pyrotechnics

Dear Editor:

I picked up the Courier yesterday, first time since the new format. I did once enjoy reading the paper, but sadly now I find it disappointing. Years ago, I remember Eric Gross reporting, on the radio about a trial that was about to start. The case was about a camp counselor who was accused of molesting a camper. He said ... “the festivities will begin tomorrow”.... now that was poor taste.

But the headline in yesterday’s paper, “Patterson Pyrotechnics” is not just poor taste it is inaccurate! Webster’s Dictionary says “Pyrotechnics” means: “the act of making or displaying fireworks ... a brilliant or witty display ... ”

Really folks... whoever is responsible should be forced to reread the dictionary.... and to write 100 times on the blackboard, “I will be more careful ...”

I don’t like the new format, I don’t like the type … But that’s a matter of taste, but pyrotechnics to describe “a raging inferno … “ that’s not taste, that’s a shame!
