Local Students Earn Comcast Scholorships
Two local high school seniors are receiving a helping hand for college with $1,000 scholarships from the Comcast Foundation. The 2010 Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program, one of the Comcast’s signature community investment programs, recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership skills, academic achievement and a commitment to community service. Two of this year’s local scholarship winners include Timothy Meyer of Brewster and Georgia Sommer of Putnam Valley.
Meyer, a graduate of Brewster High School, will be attending Boston College. Sommer, a graduate of Putnam Valley High School, will be attending Cornell University to study Education.
Each year, Comcast works with high school principals, guidance counselors and school administrators to select the scholarship recipients who strive to achieve their potential, are catalysts for positive change in their communities, are role models for their fellow students.
