Verbal Violence
A verbal altercation outside a Mahopac home turned violent resulting in felony charges of assault being lodged by police.
Carmel cops were summoned to the residence on Pine Road last week. Police Chief Michael Johnson said verbal sparring escalated into fisticuffs between a woman and her boyfriend. Full Story
Fire Dept. Hosts Blood Drive to Boost Regional Blood Supply
It can be done on the way to work, before dinner at your favorite restaurant or in between errands; yet a small percentage of the eligible population currently gives blood. In an effort to increase the regional blood supply, Mahopac Fire Department will hold a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Monday, August 16 from 1:30 to 6:30pm at the fire station, 741 Route 6. Neighborly Dispute Leads to Arrests
Mahopac’s version of the Hatfields and the McCoys resulted in the arrests of two residents who are spending their time behind bars at the Putnam Correctional Facility these days.

Troopers from Somers stopped a car on Route 35 in Bedford and charged Mitchell Farbman, 63, of Carmel, with DWI and operating his vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .13 percent.
Brewster State Police arrested Daniel Ely, 51, of Ridgefield, Conn., for drunken driving after a trooper followed a vehicle off Route 684 into the northbound rest area in Southeast. Full Story
Two Local Men Face Felony Charges After DWI
A pair of DWI arrests Sunday resulted in the arrests of two local men who are facing felony charges for driving drunk with young children inside their vehicles.
The first occurred at 1:30am when Somers State Police stopped a vehicle that was being driven erratically on Route 202 in Somers. Full Story
