Driving without a license: Police crackdown
Police say the number of motorists operating vehicles throughout the area with suspended or revoked licenses is very high.
Carmel Officer Brian Shay stopped a speeding car on Route 6 in Mahopac and charged David Sutton, 18, of Lake Peekskill, with not only aggravated unlicensed operation but with being an unlicensed driver and for speeding as well. Full Story
SPCA Formed in Putnam to Limit Animal Cruelty
A new chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been formed in Putnam County.
Members of the group led by Ken Ross of the Westchester SPCA, Veterinarian Dr. Jack Kovitz, and Putnam Valley Dog Control Officer Patti Smith met with members of the Putnam Legislature’s Protective Services Committee last week. Full Story
Kovacs Faces Manslaughter Charges
A Lake Carmel man facing manslaughter charges for killing his wife in their Larchmont Road home by poisoning her with methanol—a solvent used in anti-freeze, fuel and cleaning materials— made a quick appearance in Kent Town Court before having his case adjourned until Sept. 21. Full Story
