Senior Picnic Plans in Full Swing
Plans are being finalized this week for a traditional Putnam happening. “Seasoned” citizens from Carmel to Cold Spring and from Putnam Lake to Putnam Valley will be converging on the Putnam Veterans’ Memorial Park Sept. 15 for the county Office for the Aging annual Senior Citizens Picnic at the upper park off Gipsy Trail Road in Kent from 10am to 3pm.
Putnam RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer
Program) director Mary White 083610_PR.pdf 1 8/30/10 7:05 PM
has promised “something for everyone.”
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Tony T Orchestra. Tai Chi will also be offered along with western line dancing, and lunch will be available for a suggested contribution of $3.
William Huestis, Director of the Putnam Office for the Aging, called the senior citizen population “our county’s largest growing segment of the population… Within the next five years Putnam County will be home to more than 26,000 residents over the age of 60 which is in excess of one-quarter of Putnam’s population.”
Information about the picnic is available by calling White at 808-1734.
