American Legion Raises Money For Military Families
Members of the Mahopac American Legion Post 1080 spent the long holiday weekend raising dollars for postsecondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of those members of the military killed or disabled while serving our nation.
Patriot Golf Day was celebrated at the Mahopac Golf Club when golfers were asked to donate to the cause. Past American Legion Commander Joseph “Tin” Honigsberg and Ladies’ Auxiliary President Barbara Cegar collected donations throughout the holiday period.
Honisberg explained that golf clubs nationwide were asked to add an extra dollar to their greens fees to fund Folds of Honor scholars. In addition, golfers enjoying a round or two of golf donated as well. —Eric Gross
