Brewster 10-Year-Olds Win Tournament

Brewster's 10U baseball team won a tournament in Wappingers last week. SKIP PEARLMAN Brewster's 10U baseball team won a tournament in Wappingers last week. SKIP PEARLMAN Brewster’s 10U summer baseball team is continuing into the fall.

This past weekend the team entered the Sgt. Mark C. Palmateer Memorial Baseball Tournament in Wappingers Falls.

Sgt. Palmateer was a soldier killed in Afghanistan in 2008, and this was the first year for the memorial tournament. Brewster played two games on Saturday and three games on Sunday against teams from Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls, and won the tournament.

Coaches John Goodliffe and Adam Beal agreed that the best part about the tournament was that every player had a part in the victory. Whether it was the hustle of Tim Holler and Trey Whitley, great pitching by Max Peterson, Mark Lacerra, Ryan Goodliffe and Brendan Brooks, timely hitting by J.T. Goodliffe, Connor Henderson, and Nathan Beal, or the tremendous play at the plate by Tino Surace, each player had a role in the team winning the tournament.
