Mahopac Girls Tennis Team Has New Coach, Young Team in 2010
With a new coach leading them, the Mahopac High School girls tennis team is hoping to have a solid season.
According to new head coach Mark Warm, this year's team is very young and consists of 14 players. "It is mostly made up of juniors, sophomores and freshmen," Warm said.
The team consists of 11 starters - three singles and four doubles teams.
The athletes returning to the team this year are juniors Stephanie Tock, Elisa Schneider, Belle Plateroti, Ashley Panny, Nicole Quaedulieg, Kimberly Hunt, Brett Moskwiak, Charlotte Bosch and seniors Adrianna Puccio, Jess Forehand and Chelsea Saunders.
The team's key newcomers include sophomore Andriana Aivazians and freshman Zuzia Slusarczyk.
The Indians are members of League IB, which includes Carmel, Lakeland and Brewster. Since he is new to the team, Warm admits that he does not know much about the rest of the teams in the league. However, he thinks that his team will do well.
"I think that they are going to play hard and be competitive," Warm said. "They are going to work hard and play the best that they can."
His goal for the season is to have his team always make a strong showing.
"I am hoping to be a competitive team. I think that they are hard workers," Warm commented.
The Indians were scheduled to open their season earlier this week at home against John Jay Cross River.
