Frederick Pfister, 79, a resident of Patterson for over 50 years, and previously of Lake Carmel, passed away on Mon., November 1, 2010 at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel. Born in Brooklyn on October 24, 1931, he was the son of Theodore and Elsie (Speth) Pfister. On July 4, 1955 in Croton Falls, he married Shirley Mayes. Shirley predeceased him on February 25, 2008. Fred was a machinist at IBM in Poughkeepsie before retiring. He also served in the US Navy in the Korean War.

Fred was a gentleman farmer who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring antique cars and antique tractors. He was a member of the Oasis Sportsman Club, Brewster BPOE, and Knights of Columbus in Carmel.

Fred is survived by four sons, Fred and his wife, Connie, of Lake Carmel; Charles and his wife, Judy, of Pawling; Robert of Patterson; and Nicholas and his wife, Lisa, of Dover Plains; and a daughter, Donna Moccio of Hopewell Junction; 16 grandchildren, Frederick III, Scott, Tricia, Magen, Robert Jr., Daniel, Tyler, Gregg, Thomas Jr., Victoria, Alexandra, Sophia, Nicholas, Adam, Michael, and Anthony; greatgrandchildren, Trey, Matthew, Madison, Damie, Melissa, and Claire. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is predeceased by his son, Thomas. Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 E. Main St., Pawling on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 5 at 11am at St. John’s Church, Pawling. Burial will follow in Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel.
